National Youth Day

During the International Year of the Youth, the Government of India declared 12 January 1985 as the National Youth Day all over the country – 12 January being the birthday of Swami Vivekananda in 1863 –and that 12th January shall be observed every year thereafter as the National Youth Day.

In a communication, the Government of India mentioned the significance of the day:” it was felt that the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration to the Indian youth.”

Annual Literary Competition

National Youth Day Completion are conducted once in a year during July - August months. 

About 35 to 40 schools participate with around 2500 students in participation. Around 300 prizes are distributed for winners in different categories of competitions both in Tamil and English. 


The Competitions will be held for students from I to XII Std in Recitation, Oratory, Essay Writing (both in English and Tamil), Gita Chanting, Devotional Music, Drawing / Painting.

Value Education Program

An integrated programme for college students, is held periodically. Students are made aware of their latent potentialities. The programme focuses on making younger generation, to face the challenges in the world boldly and shoulder responsibility and be good contributive citizens. 

The program is featured with lectures / PPT’s / Case studies / Group discussions / interview skills etc. which we hope would be of immense value / help to the students besides offering a very good opportunity to learn soft skills / Values in Life.

Balaka Sangha

Balaka Sangha, a Free Sunday Class for the children of age group of 7-12 is conducted on Sunday mornings at the Ashrama between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 am.

Bhajans, Yoga, Story-telling, Short films on spiritual stories / Motivational / inspirational / etc are being conducted by able dedicated volunteers / Resource persons.

After the program the children are given refreshments by distribution of snacks and health drink.
